Micro Fat Grafting

And Nano Fat Grafting

INFORMATION

Fat grafting refers to the enhanced fat transfer and growth factor rejuvenation program. It is natural, long-lasting way to replace volume and softly enhance the face. Instead of fillers, facial fat grafting is one of the best options to replace lost volume in an aging face.

Fat transfer involves liposuctioning the thighs or abdomen and transferring it to any area of the body. Re-injecting the fats makes it last longer in larger areas of non-movement, hence it’s very suitable for sunken cheeks, as it does not move the most. It also corrects aging hands, post-surgical and post-traumatic defects. Not every area of the body responds well to fat transfer, mostly:

  • Forehead
  • Around the eyes
  • Cheek region
  • Nasolabial and Marionette region
  • Chin

How is fat grafting different from fillers?
Fat grafting is a more natural way to replace lost volume of the face. Fillers are usually not permanent but fat grafting, can last longer. There is no risk of allergy or rejection, which is most important, as the filled up space gets the same fats that were taken from the same body.

ABOUT THE PROCEDURE

How is fat transfer done?
Fats are removed from the area where the fat is mostly tightly packed like the abdomen or thighs. Using a small needle attached to a syringe does this action.

After the fat is removed, it is processed to remove excess fluids and then re-injected using cannula which is placed just under the skin or muscle. This process maybe repeated until desired outcome achieved.

The procedure takes about 1 hour and is expertly performed by our consultant cosmetic surgeon.

Benefits of fat transfer:

  • Fat transfer may last longer than facial injectable(s).
  • Cost effective as it can be combined with other fat related procedures.
  • Minimal to none allergic reaction.

Micro fat grafting
Thin injection cannulas are used for micro fat grafting. The fat used for this are processed into nanofat. Micro nano fat grafting is different from fat grafting by a thin fraction.

Nano fat grafting is done to correct superficial rhytides, scars and dark lower eyelid rings. Nanofat is most suitable for skin rejuvenation purpose.

What to expect for the procedure?

Duration of fat survival on face.

On average, the fat can last up to three to five years* and can be topped up if patient desires.

Painful procedure

Patient will be anesthetized with local anesthesia.

After the procedure:

Most patients are up and around immediately. However, the procedure will cause a swollen face for approximately five to seven days*. This discomfort will be controlled with the provided medication. There may be bruising as well that may be covered with make-up. It is best to keep the head upright and avoid bending the head down, as it will cause more bruising and swelling.

There will be no scarring after the procedure but facial massage and treatment should be avoided during the *first six weeks. Final desired outcome will be seen after *two months.
