How is fat grafting different from fillers?
Fat grafting is a more natural way to replace lost volume of the face. Fillers are usually not permanent but fat grafting, can last longer. There is no risk of allergy or rejection, which is most important, as the filled up space gets the same fats that were taken from the same body.
How is fat transfer done?Fats are removed from the area where the fat is mostly tightly packed like the abdomen or thighs. Using a small needle attached to a syringe does this action.
After the fat is removed, it is processed to remove excess fluids and then re-injected using cannula which is placed just under the skin or muscle. This process maybe repeated until desired outcome achieved.
The procedure takes about 1 hour and is expertly performed by our consultant cosmetic surgeon.
