Scarring Depending on Breast Augmentation Incision Methods
Scar tissue may look differently depending on the types of incision and surgical incision location.
Incision above the pectoralis major muscle (through nipple – peri-areolar incision)
Tattooing the nipple colour can hide the otherwise visible scar. Although this method is not usually preferable for breast implant surgery as this may damage milk glands, some patients find this type of incision less painful post-op.
Under the pectoral muscle incision (through the breast fold, the most preferred method by most patients)
This method is most preferred with a short incision point from the breast inframammary fold (inframammary incision). The scar will be hidden. The patient can opt to laser and lighten the scar.
Breast Volume with Silicone Gel-Filled Breast Implants
In most cases, breast augmentation patients are unfamiliar with the more intricate medical terms, so they often ask: “How many cc’s are in a bra cup size”? In general, bra size seems to vary from one manufacturer to another, which makes it difficult to name a specific number here. It has been agreed, though, that one cup size is equal to approximately 130-150 cc. This should give you a clue as to how many cubic centimetres you want.
That being said, you need to have a thorough conversation with your aesthetic plastic surgeon to determine the desired breast size. They will hand you samples of silicone breast implants that differ in texture, shape, and size to help you visualize the results and the look. There is also a special program that can help you get there.
Results – How long before breast implants look normal?
Another thing that patients are keenly interested in is when the results materialize after the breast implants procedure. It has to be said that they progress with time. Your bust will begin to look normal when the swelling is over, and the implants settle, which usually happens around the third month’s mark. Of course, it varies from patient to patient and is strongly individualized. Your aesthetic plastic surgeon will monitor your journey and warn you about any potential side effects.
It is important to mention that the outcome could change as a result of weight gain, ageing, gravity, childbirth, etc. Breast revision surgery is available for women with breast issues of this kind.
